What Is a Core Team Member?
A member of the LIFE
TEEN Core Group is an adult who is responding to their
baptismal call to serve in youth ministry. They are directly
involved in teenager's lives working in a ministry to, with,
and by the young people they serve. They approach the
ministry with a servant mentality and are committed and
dedicated to the Church and the teenagers they serve.
Core members are one of the most
vital parts of the LIFE TEEN program. First and foremost,
they are role models to our teens, recognizing that how you
live and act makes the strongest impression for teens. The
Core Team is usually made up of Catholic adults who are at
least out of high school and generally not parents of teens.
The Core member works under the supervision of the youth
ministry staff for the purpose of assisting in the
fulfillment of Life Teen's mission.
How Does Someone Become a Member of the
Core Team?
An adult interested in becoming a Core Team
member must first contact Fr.Colello or Fr. Bailey. In an
initial meeting, a brief overview of the program will be
offered as well as written material. Once the adult has had a
chance to review the material and still expresses an interest,
then a formal interview will be held with the youth ministry
staff. A Core Team member must exhibit a true desire to work
with teens and at least some experience in that area. They
must be people of faith and the moral life, committed to the
teachings of Christ and His Church. A Core Team member must be
able to listen to the teens and be willing to be a servant
model to them.
How Can Adults Help Out Without becoming a
Core Team Member?
Parents and adults can
become helpers by preparing snacks for the life nights and by
supervising the clean up after the nights. This is called LIFE
SUPPORT. Parents and adults
can be most important by asking young people to join Life Teen
and become an active member of the parish.
